WHAT a story and WHAT a
woman writing it! If
you knew Gayle, you would like her instantly.
If you cross her, LOOKOUT!
She's an Italian from New Orleans and her story of Gloria
Rose and Shawn is REAL; it's HER story but the names and places
have been changed to protect the guilty!
"Shawn was the type who thought he was smart but wasn't.
He thought he was a lady-killer but wasn't (and isn't).
He lost a wife (who cheated on him), he lost a lover (who
adored him) and he is 'with' someone now it seems that everyone
else has been 'with' (according to Gayle Ponthier)."
WOW, but this is a fun book to read!
It runs the gamut of romance, rape, death, problems with
lovers, problems with business and even some of Gayle's award-winning
poetry. Yeah!
She is quite a woman and her book tells it the way it is
in no uncertain terms. Married
at 14, a virgin on a honeymoon, divorced from a drinking husband
almost THREE TIMES her age, and bearing a child when she was still
a child. Married
again at 17, the victim of spousal abuse, another child and divorced
at 18. For years
Gloria Rose lived in abject poverty, held three jobs (at the same
time), and scrubbed floors to feed her kids.
Finally a good marriage and her husband gets killed in
a freak accident, her son is murdered, and as a widow, she meets
Shawn and her story then gets more interesting.
This is a mixture of a book written by Danielle Steele,
John Grisham and Ripley in his believe it or not stories.
It's about 300 or so pages and forces you to decide whom
YOU feel is the culprit and who is the victim.
And, it isn't over yet but my vote goes to Gayle.
She's like The Unsinkable Molly Brown with the same spirit
and demeanor.
